record protective screens – protect door screen routes

Protective door screens supplement our range of classic linear sliding doors. They serve primarily to protect the door from damage, but also prevent malfunctions, for example when items are carelessly placed in the path of the door.

The protective screens also look good. The record system 20 blends well with many different entrance designs, thus allowing it to be installed in a wide variety of areas, but always creating a coherent and harmonious impression.

Always free of obstacles

There are a wide variety of reasons for using protective screens. When it comes to safety in relation to the monitoring of the closing profile, the use of protective screens is a popular and effective method. An alternative is fitting record’s AIS 290 «side scan», an additional infrared sensor that optically scans the path of the door.

Although this method is just as safe as completely covering routes with protective screens, it can be prone to failure in high-traffic environments. In rare cases, the opening of the door screens can be potentially dangerous. However, it is much more likely that foreign objects are detected blocking the path of the door, for instance when the sensor detects a thoughtlessly parked shopping trolley or forgotten cleaning bucket.

With protective screens, such situations do not arise. The path of the door leaf remains free of obstacles, and possible damage to the door through collision when open is ruled out.

Pivoting protective screens of 10 mm toughened safety glass

Regardless of the glass used in the door, protective screens are fitted with 10 mm toughened safety glass (ESG), and normally have frames on two sides only. On each side, bearing points are located at the floor and on the header profile. To allow unimpeded access for cleaning or maintenance, the protective wings are designed to swivel. A specially designed sliding lock located on the floor fixes the protective screen in place. Both its shape and the unlocking process itself have been consciously designed to inhibit manipulation sufficiently, for example by playing children, in contrast with more common mechanisms. Locking occurs in the usual way, however, and happens by merely closing the protective screens, and requires no further intervention.

Protective screens are a useful addition to your door system. They enhance reliability and make a visually harmonious statement.
